#RPGaDay2017? Let’s do this.

Day 1 — What published RPG do you wish you were playing right now?

After last night’s pretty epic roll20 adventure, my answer is Dungeons & Dragons 5e. Can we just pick up where we left off?

I know, I know, D&D 5e is a boring answer, but I’ve been playing D&D for 39 years. I wish I was playing it RIGHT NOW, because I was playing it last night, and it was a brilliant game.

Tying in elements (and characters) from our previous campaign, 5th level adventurers Tiefling Monk, Kyrian Winfell, and Stigandr Wolfgarsson battled an ancient black dragon and lived to tell the tale. They also were tapped by a prominent character from their previous campaign to embark on a quest into the heart of fabled Thule to find the cure for the Resurrection Curse that is plaguing the land.

All great and brilliant stuff, well played by this intrepid band… and leading up to a LIVE Gen-Con Gaming Event when the entire OHD&DC crew are back together.

So yeah, D&D 5E is my choice. How about you?

  1. Addendum: Some people are answering this differently, as in, what game “other than” the one they’re playing currently would they like to be rolling dice in.

The answer to that question extension for me is hard, because there are a lot of great games out there, like Modiphius’ Conan and Star Trek RPGs for instance.

But I think, today, my answer is A Song of Ice & Fire. Gritty realism, political intrigue, a dash of myth and magic… Wouldn’t mind giving that a go.
